Celebrating Community Gems 2007!

The event was held Saturday, December 1st, 2007, from 6:00-10:00 pm at the Campus Center Ballroom at UMass Boston.

Community Gems is a collaborative fundraising event that raises money and awareness for 6 non-profit agencies that provide human services to approximately 15,000 each year. We hope you can help by purchasing a ticket! If you cannot go, we will donate to the ticket to one of our many youth or families we support.

The event helps five local not-for-profit organizations to raise the funds and awareness they need to bring a broad range of human services to thousands of Bostonians. In 2004, the Gems first year, each of the five agencies involved raised upwards of $25,000 from the one-night event.

Last year, due to tremendous support from local corporations and foundations, the amount doubled to $50,000 each. The annual Community Gems event helps to highlight the work that these local non-profits have been doing everyday to change lives right here in the Boston community.

Collectively, the Community Gems:

• Serve more than 19,000 residents at every stage of life – from planning for a family to senior services
• Offer 76 programs Employ 460 adults and youth in full-time, part-time and summer positions
• Pay $12 million to employees in salaries
• Bring $20 million in revenue to their communities
